Two Cowboys Advance at USTA/ITA Central Regional

TULSA, Okla. – Freshman Christopher Haworth and senior Vlad Bondarenko advanced to the quarterfinal round of the USTA/ITA Central Region Championship Sunday after easily defeating their round of 16 opponents.
Each player picked up a dominant straight-set victory as Haworth knocked off Southern Illinois' Jorge Cavero, 6-1, 6-1, and Bondarenko beat Iowa's Jonas Dierckx by the same score.
Sophomore Rifat Biktyakov also had a good run in the singles bracket, but was eliminated in today's round of 16 by third-seeded Christopher Aumueller of Nebraska.
Maniel Bains and Eric West won, 9-7, in the main draw doubles round of 16, but were narrowly beaten in the quarterfinal by Oklahoma's Webb and Paval, 8-6.
Haworth and Bondarenko continue play in the event Monday morning at Tulsa's Case Tennis Center.
