Biktyakov Advances To Finals

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma State men's tennis sophomore Rifat Biktyakov won two singles matches on Saturday at the OU Invitational to advance to the final round.
Biktyakov defeated Benedikt Lindheim of Nebraska, 6-4, 6-2, in the semifinal round. In the quarterfinal round, he defeated Guillermo Alcorta of Oklahoma after Alcorta retired in the second set, down 6-2, 2-0. Biktyakov will take on Tsvetan Mihov of OU on Sunday in the final round.
Biktyakov also teamed up with senior Vlad Bondarenko to advance to the semifinals in doubles play after Alcorta and Lawrence Formentera of OU withdrew. They will take on Lindheim and Chris Aumueller of Nebraska on Sunday.
Lindheim defeated Bondarenko in the quarterfinal round of singles play, 6-1, 6-3, before losing to Biktyakov in the next round. Maniel Bains was defeated 6-1, 7-5, by Dane Webb of OU.
Aumueller and Lindheim combined to defeat the Cowboys' pairing of Christopher Haworth and Brandon Champagne, 8-0. Manfred Jeske and Nikolas Zogaj of Arkansas defeated Bains and Eric West, 8-3.
