Razorback Invitational
Farrell, Moskowitz Run Top Mile Times
January 29, 2011 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Jan. 29, 2011
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oklahoma State track and field program wrapped up a successful meet at the Razorback Invitational Saturday, highlighted by freshman Natalja Piliusina's time of 2:05.86 in the women's 800 meters, enough for a new OSU record, a first-place finish and the fastest collegiate time in the country so far this season.
That time also marks a personal record of about two seconds for the Lithuania native, who achieved the feat in the first indoor meet of her Oklahoma State career.
“It went really well today,” coach Dave Smith said. “There were a lot of people running in their first meet of the year and I was really pleased because there were several outstanding performances. Natalja setting the 800 school record was great. That was the highlight of the day.”
The previous record in the event was held by Adrene Thompson, who finished the event in 2:06.68 in 1999.
Other noteworthy performances for the Cowgirls included freshman Caileigh Glenn's personal record 800 meters time of 2:11.06, ranking eighth on the all-time list at OSU, and senior Clarissa Andrews' personal record triple jump mark of 12.64 meters, which moves her up to third place on the all-time OSU performance list in the event.
The men's highlight came in the one mile run, where sophomore Tom Farrell and freshman Shane Moskowitz each ran career-best times of 4:02.38 and 4:04.39 to place third and fifth, respectively. Farrell's time places him seventh on the OSU all-time list in the event.
Oklahoma State track and field is scheduled to return to action Feb. 11, as athletes travel to the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
