Cowboys Advance at Baylor Invitational

WACO, Texas - The Oklahoma State men's tennis team continued play at the 10th annual HEB Baylor Invitational Saturday, as Aleksey Bessonov and Rifat Biktyakov advanced to the final round of the A doubles bracket.
The duo won two matches Friday to advance to today's competition, where they won a close, hard fought match over Texas Tech's Gonzalo Escobar and Rafael Garcia, 9-8(7), in the quarterfinal round before earning a trip to the championship match with an 8-4 win over NMSU's Jim Brouleau and Arthur Surreaux in the semifinal round.
The Cowboys also competed in singles play, where Biktyakov and Eric West were eliminated from the A bracket in the round of 16 and freshman Brandon Champagne was eliminated from the B consolation bracket.
Oklahoma State returns to action Sunday when Bessonov and Biktyakov face Baylor's tandem of Roberto Maytin and John Peers in the championship match of the A doubles bracket at the HEB Baylor Invitational.
