Cowboy Tennis Falls at Blue Gray Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 54 Oklahoma State men's tennis team fell to No. 16 Texas Tech, 4-2, Friday in the second round of the Blue Gray Tennis Classic at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center.
The Cowboys, who defeated No. 44 Penn State in the opening round of the event, are now 6-5 on the year.
Texas Tech, which improved its record to 14-1 with the win, claimed the doubles point to start the day, but 12th-ranked Aleksey Bessonov and Oleksandr Nedovyesov were able to win at No. 1 doubles over No. 18 Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garcia, 8-3
Oklahoma State started singles play with a big win from No. 19 Nedovyesov at the No. 1 spot, where he earned a quick straight set win over No. 15 Carvalho, 6-2, 6-1, to improve his singles record to 9-2 in 2010.
Aleksey Bessonov also claimed a win for OSU at No. 4 singles with a, 6-3, 7-6, over Texas Tech's Andre Stabile, but the Red Raiders earned wins at No. 5, 6 and 3 singles to come out with a 4-2 dual victory.
The Cowboys continue play at the Blue Gray Tennis Classic Saturday, taking on the loser of the Notre Dame vs. Fresno State match in a consolation match.
