Cowboy Tennis Drops Match at Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 44 Oklahoma State men's tennis team opened Big 12 Conference play Friday, falling to No. 4 Texas, 6-1, at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
The Cowboys, now 6-7 (0-1) on the year, started the match by losing the doubles point with losses at No. 2 and 3. At the No. 1 spot, however, No. 12 Oleksandr Nedovyesov and Aleksey Bessonov upset the No. 4-ranked doubles team in the country, Texas' Dimitar Kutrovosky and Josh Zavala, 8-6.
In singles play, No. 19 Nedovyesov improved his record to 11-2 on the year, upsetting Kutrovosky, ranked No. 7, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
After Nedovyesov's win, however, the Longhorns made a run to decide the match, winning at No. 5, 4, 3 and 6 singles, respectively, putting Texas on top, 5-1.
With only the No. 2 singles match remaining, Anton Bobytskyi, the No. 75 singles player, fell short in his upset try against No. 12 Ed Corrie of Texas, falling in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
Oklahoma State returns to action Sunday, facing Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
