Cowboys Knock Off Hawai'i in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The No. 69 Oklahoma State men's tennis team won four of six singles matches to defeat No. 41 Hawai'i, 4-3, Wednesday at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Cowboys, now 4-4 in 2010, fell behind 1-0 after dropping all three doubles matches, but were able to turn things around in singles play.
Aleksey Bessonov scored first for Oklahoma State, quickly defeating UH's Jeremy Tweedt in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, to tie the score at 1-1.
After OSU dropped the No. 3 singles match, Eric West and Anton Bobytskyi recorded wins at the No. 5 and 2 spots, respectively, to put the Cowboys up 3-2 with two matches remaining.
The match was decided when Oleksandr Nedovyesov, the defending ITA National Player of the Year, defeated UH's Dennis Lajola in a three-set match at No. 1 singles 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
UH's Dmytro Kovalyov finished the day with a win at No. 6 singles to make the final score, 4-3, Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys return to action Saturday, facing UNLV at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev.
