STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State wrestling team opened the season by crowning eight champions to dominate the Oklahoma City Open today. 125-pounder Jon Morrison, 133-pounder Jordan Oliver, 141-pounder Luke Silver, 149-pounder Jamal Parks, 157-pounder Stephen Swan, 165-pounder Dallas Bailey, 174-pounder Chris McNeil and 197-pounder Clayton Foster were all winners for the Cowboys.
In addition to the eight Oklahoma State champions, 125-pounder Tyler Dorrell, 141-pounder Josh Kindig, 149-pounder Albert White, 174-pounder Zach White, 184-pounder Chris Perry and 285-pounder Alan Gelogaev were runner-up finishers at their respective weight classes. After roaring into the heavyweight finals, Gelogaev was forced to injury default the title match to Oklahoma's Joe Bach.
OSU 184-pounder Elliott Hellwege placed third and 125-pounder Alex Gorton, 141-pounder Julian Feikert and 157-pounder Matt White were all fourth at their respective weight classes.
Perhaps the most interesting result of the day was Parks' 3-1 win over Albert White in the 149-pound title bout. Parks also edged White in overtime at the Orange and Black Ranking Matches last week. Both wrestlers are very capable of being in the Cowboys starting lineup.
