Cowboys Continue Play at Indoor Championships

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Oklahoma State men's tennis athletes Aleksey Bessonov and Rifat Biktyakov won the first round of consolation doubles play at the USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships Friday, playing with some of the top competition in the nation at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The Cowboy duo fell in Thursday's opening main draw match, 8-5, to Mississippi's fourth-seeded tandem of Chris Thiemann and Marcel Thiemann to reach today's consolation play.
Bessonov and Biktyakov then faced off with Kentucky's Brad Cox and Eric Quigley, who is the No. 2 seed in the singles bracket, this morning and handed the Wildcats an 8-6 loss.
The Cowboys continue play in the consolation bracket Saturday, facing UCLA's Amit Inbar and Nick Meister, named the No. 2 overall seed in the doubles main draw.
