NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State men's tennis athletes Aleksey Bessonov and Rifat Biktyakov claimed the main draw doubles championship at the 2010 USTA/ITA Regional Championships Sunday, defeating Oklahoma's tandem of John Warden and Lawrence Formentera in a tiebreaker in the final match.
The Cowboy duo advanced through four rounds of the 32-team bracket, including a 9-7 win over No. 37-ranked Chris Nott and Matt Hogan in today's semifinal, to reach the final match.
Bessonov and Biktyakov then faced OU's Warden and Formentera in a close match for the doubles championship, where they earned a tiebreaker win, 9-8(2).
Oklahoma State is scheduled to return to action Nov. 5 for the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas.
