Cowboys Fall to Rice

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 24 Oklahoma State men's tennis team opened it's competition at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend Saturday, falling to No. 34 Rice, 4-1, at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Cowboys lost two of three doubles matches to start the day, with Maximilian Kuhn and Ilija Martinoski picking up a 9-8 (7) win over Rice's Sam Garforth-Bles and Dennis Polyakov at No.3.
Senior Oleksandr Nedovyesov, ranked No. 15, tied the match at 1-1 with a quick 6-2, 6-2 win over 19th-ranked Bruno Rosa, at No. 1 singles.
The Cowboys then lost matches at No. 3, 4 and 6 singles to give the Owls a 4-1 win, eliminating them from contention for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Oklahoma State returns to action on Sunday, taking on No. 12 Texas A&M at 1 p.m. in College Station.
