Cowgirls Tied For Seventh At Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team carded a 3-under 285 during the first round of action at the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship on Friday to stand in a tie for seventh place.
Southern California and Auburn each posted 278 totals to share the lead, while Alabama and Arizona State are tied for third at 280. The Cowgirls finished the day tied with Georgia and Vanderbilt. The trio wrapped up Day One at the Vanderbilt Legends Course one shot behind UCLA.
Three Cowgirls finished the round under par as freshmen Courtney McKim and Victoria Park joined sophomore Caroline Hedwall in a tie for 27th at 1-under 71.
McKim began with four pars before posting a birdie at the par-3 fifth. After making the turn at 1-under 35, the Raleigh, N.C., native fell back to even par with a bogey at the 12th. However, McKim reeled off five-straight pars before posting another birdie at the closing 18th.
Park made the turn at 2-under 34 after putting together a front nine that included four birdies. The Irvine, Calif., native birdied the 10th as well to move to 3-under par for the day before playing her final eight holes 2-over par.
Coming off her second career win in the Cowgirls' fall opener at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, Hedwall stood at 1-under through 14 holes after carding 13 pars and one birdie. After moving back onto the plus side with a double bogey at the 15th, she closed with birdies at Nos. 16 and 18 to finish in red figures for the day.
Finishing in the group one stroke behind her three teammates was freshman Jane Rah. The Torrance, Calif., native will begin her second round tied for 36th place after posting an even-par 72.
Freshman Hillary Wood carded a 74 and came in tied for 57th place.
The Cowgirls will resume play tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. (CST) at the par-72, 6,271-yard layout and will play with Georgia and Vanderbilt.
