Stillwater, Okla. — Matt Pilgrim, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward, has signed a Financial Aid Agreement to play for Oklahoma State, head coach Travis Ford announced today. Pilgrim is a transfer from Kentucky.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Pilgrim played his first two years of college basketball at Hampton. He averaged 10.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as a freshman for the Pirates and was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's all-rookie team despite missing the first nine games of the season with a broken foot.
As a sophomore in 2007-08, he averaged 7.7 points and 5.2 rebounds in 26 games and finished the season with 10 double-figure scoring contests.
Pilgrim sat out the 2008-09 season as a redshirt after transferring from Hampton to Kentucky. An application will be filed with the National Collegiate Athletic Association on his behalf to waive the rule requiring student-athletes to sit out a season after transferring between Division I schools and request that he be eligible for 2009-10.
