Cowgirl Golf Moves Into Fourth Place At NCAA Championship

Oklahoma State's women's golf team carded a 9-over 297 during its second round at the NCAA Championship on Wednesday to move into a three-way tie for fourth place at Caves Valley Golf Club.
The fourth-ranked Cowgirls have a 36-hole total of 600, 24-over par, and are tied with Arizona State and North Carolina.
UCLA broke 300 for the second consecutive day with a 5-over 293 to move to the top of the team standings at 589, 13-over. With their total, the Bruins stand seven shots clear of the field at the event's midway point. Southern California is in second place at 596, while Denver fell two spots and is in third place at 598.
UCLA's Maria Jose Uribe charged up the leaderboard with a 6-under 66, moving her from a 25th-place tie into first place at 3-under 141.
OSU senior Pernilla Lindberg continued to lead the way for the Cowgirls. After opening with a 74 on Tuesday, the Bollnäs, Sweden native posted a team-best 72 during her second round to move up six spots into a tie for sixth place at 146.
Lindberg opened with a birdie and fell back to even with a bogey at the par-five third hole. With a bogey at the eighth, she turned at 1-over and posted three-straight pars to begin her back nine. However, Lindberg got back into red figures with birdies at the 13th and 14th before moving back to level par with a bogey two holes later.
Freshman Caroline Masson moved up 30 spots into a tie for 20th place after posting a 73 for a two-day total of 150. The Gladbeck, Germany native turned at 1-over and dipped to 2-over after a bogey at the 10th. Masson reeled off eight pars in a row before finishing her day with a birdie at the 18th.
Senior Karin Kinnerud played holes four through 14 1-under par en route to a 74. Kinnerud's 2-over tally helped her make a big move as well, vaulting her from a tie for 60th into a tie for 37th place at 152.
Freshman Caroline Hedwall and senior Amanda Johnson are among the group tied for 65th place at 10-over 154 after posting 78s.
The Cowgirls will begin their third round at noon (EST) at the par-72, 6,443-yard layout and will play with Arizona State and North Carolina. Live scoring for the event is available at golfstat.com.
