Cowboy Tennis Topples SMU, 6-1

DALLAS, TexasÂOklahoma State's men's tennis team won its second consecutive match, picking up a 6-1 victory over SMU on Friday afternoon at Turpin Tennis Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
With the win, the 30th-ranked Cowboys improved to 9-5 on the year, while the Mustangs fell to 13-9.
OSU rolled to the match's first team point, sweeping all three doubles contests. The Cowboys' 16th-ranked tandem of Oleksandr Nedovyesov and Nathan Byrnes picked up an 8-5 victory over Robin Fahgen and David Costa at the No. 1 spot, while Mikhail Trukshanin and Anton Bobytski zipped to an 8-2 win at the No. 2 spot over Darren Walsh and Adham el-Effendi.
Aleksey Bessonov and Igor Sobolta completed the sweep with an 8-5 win over Artem Baradach and Chris Hooshyar at the No. 3 position.
Nedovyesov, the nation's top-ranked singles player, cruised to a 6-2, 7-6 win over Fahgen at the No. 1 spot before SMU got on the board with Costa's 6-2, 6-1 win over Trukshanin at the No. 2 slot.
At No. 3 singles, Byrnes earned a three-set victory over Baradach, picking up a 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 victory, while Bessonov zipped to a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot over Hooshyar.
Bobytski tallied a three-set win of his own, knocking off Walsh 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 to take the team point at the No. 5 singles position, while Sobolta claimed a straight-set victory at the No. 6 slot with a 6-2, 7-5 win over el-Effendi.
The Cowboys will be back in action on Tuesday when they return home to host Nebraska at 2 p.m.
