Cowboy Tennis Nabs First Conference Win Over Nebraska

The Cowboys picked up their fourth point at No. 2 doubles. Senior Nathan Byrnes grinded out a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Calin Paar to clinch the match for the Cowboys.
In the third set, he rallied from down 15-40 to break Paar's serve and square the set at 4. After holding serve to go up 5-4, he was able to break again to win the match. He brought a roar from the Cowboy crowd as he hit a passing shot to go up 40-love after a long rally.
“I was happy to see Nathan come through under pressure,” OSU coach James Wadley said.
Top-ranked Oleksandr Nedovyesov picked up another routine win at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over
OSU (10-5, 1-2 Big 12) won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
The 16th-ranked duo of Nedovyesov and Byrnes won 8-5 over Bendheim and Paar. Igor Sobolta and Aleksey Bessonov clinched the point for OSU with an 8-5 win over Hendrik Stahner and Francois Van Impe.
Sobolta also picked up a point for OSU at No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Van Impe.
“I was pleased with the hustle and fight that we showed today,” Wadley said. “That's what you have to do in the Big 12 when all seven teams are ranked in the top 45.”
