LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 24 Oklahoma State men's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over Texas Texas on Friday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
OSU won four singles matches after losing the doubles point en route to the victory. The Cowboys improved to 13-5, 3-2 in Big 12 play while the Red Raiders fell to 12-10, 1-4.
The Cowboys lone win in doubles came from the 17th-ranked duo of Oleksandr Nedovyesov and Nathan Byrnes. They downed No. 12 Raony Carvalho and Christian Rojmar 8-7 (4).
Aleksey Bessonov put the Cowboys on the board with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Gonzalo Escobar at No. 3 singles.
After Texas Tech won matches at the Nos. 5 and 2 slots to take a 3-1 lead, second-ranked Nedovyesov downed No. 41 Carvalho 7-6 (5), 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
His win gave the Cowboys the boost they needed as Anton Bobytskyi followed with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles. Igor Sobolta clinched the match for the Cowboys with a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) win over David Gonzalez at No. 6 singles.
