Cowgirl Golf Slips Into Fifth At Wildcat Invitational

PUERTO PENASCO, Mexico ÂOklahoma State's women's golf team wrapped up the second day of action at the Wildcat Invitational on Monday in fifth place at the Nicklaus Legacy Course.
Entering the day tied for fourth place with Tulane, the Cowgirls carded a 293 during their second round. OSU will enter tomorrow's final round with a 36-hole total of 592 and two strokes behind Pepperdine. UCLA leads the team standings with a 582 team total, while Arizona State narrowed the gap with a 290 during its second round and is three strokes back at 585.
California's Pia Halbig posted a 73 during Round Two to join first-round leader Juliana Murcia of ASU atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under 142.
OSU freshman Caroline Hedwall climbed up the leaderboard with a 2-under 70 on Monday, moving from a tie for 15th into a tie for sixth place at 144. Hedwall is one of just seven players in the field that finished even par or better through 36 holes.
Senior Pernilla Lindberg maintained her position with a 74 to stay tied for 22nd place at 149.
Freshman Caroline Masson was impressive during her second round, carding the squad's other sub-par round with a 1-under 71. Masson's number moved her into the group tied for 22nd place.
Senior Amanda Johnson followed an opening 76 with a 78 and is tied for 41st place at 154, while fellow senior Karin Kinnerud carded an 85 to dip into a tie for 65th place at 159.
Tomorrow's final round will get underway at 8 a.m. (MST) with a shotgun start.
