The Cowgirls got off to an early 1-0 lead against PSU (5-5) as Mariah Gearhart started off the game with a bunt single and ran to third on a throwing error by the Vikings third baseman. Whiddon threw all seven innings and gave up five hits for one earned run, walked two and struck out nine. She falls to 3-3. PSU's Nichole Latham (2-3) got the win after throwing all seven innings and giving up one run off four hits and walking and striking out five.
In the second game of the day, Boston College (3-3) scored a run in the second inning off a sacrifice fly and four runs in the fifth inning from four hits including a two-RBI-double by Irene Delgrammatica. The winning pitcher was Taylor Peyton (3-2) who threw a complete game giving up one run off six hits, three walks and three strikeouts.
