Cowgirl Golf Tied For Fourth Place At UCF Challenge

The Cowgirls finished the day tied with UCLA and one shot out of third place. Southern California grabbed the lead through 18 holes with its 7-under 281 score. Duke came in at 282, while Pepperdine finishes with a 285 score at the RedTail Golf Club.
Duke's Alison Whitaker fired a 65 at the 6,301-yard, par-72 layout to finish atop the individual leaderboard.
OSU junior Pernilla Lindberg fired a 5-under 67 to finish alone in third place and two shots back. The Bollnäs, Sweden native began her day on the back nine and birdied four of her first seven holes to turn at 33. Lindberg followed with three birdies on her front nine to get to her number.
Senior Tammy Clelland carded an even-par 72 and is among 11 players tied for 21st place, while freshman Jaclyn Sweeney came in one stroke back with a 73 and is tied for 32nd place.
Junior Karin Kinnerud posted a 74 during and is tied for 46th place.
Fellow junior Amanda Johnson turned in an 76 and will begin her second round tied for 65th place.
The Cowgirls will begin their second round tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. (EST) and will be paired with Purdue and Vanderbilt.
