Cowgirl Golf One Shot Off Lead At Wildcat Invitational

Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 288 score during the first round of action on Monday at the Wildcat Invitational to finish the day tied for second place at Arizona National Golf Club.
The Cowgirls were one of four teams deadlocked for second and one shot off the pace of leader Arizona State. Joining OSU at 288 were host Arizona, Duke and UCLA.
Senior Tammy Clelland led the charge for OSU, posting a 1-under 70 to finish in a six-way tie for third place. The Taupo, New Zealand native finished in red figures after catching fire during the middle of her round. Clelland bogeyed two of her first three holes, but recorded birdies on Nos. 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10 en route to her best round as a Cowgirl.
Duke's Amanda Blumenherst fired a 68 to hold a one-stroke lead over Stanford's Mari Chun..
Freshman Jaclyn Sweeney turned in the squad's second-best tally of the day with an even-par 71 that included three birdies. The Andover, Mass., native will begin her second round on Tuesday tied for ninth place with five other players.
Junior Karin Kinnerud had a three-birdie round on her way to a 2-over 73 to finish tied for 19th place, while fellow junior Pernilla Lindberg finished tied for 30th after turning in a 74.
Junior Amanda Johnson posted a 76 during her first round to come in tied for 45th place.
The Cowgirls will resume play tomorrow morning at 9:10 a.m. (MST) and will be paired with Arizona State, Arizona and Duke.
