Diary From Down Under No. 2
October 06, 2008 | Cowgirl Golf
Over the next several days, OSU senior golfer Pernilla Lindberg will be sharing her account of the 2008 World Amateur Team Championship in Australia. Lindberg is one of two Cowgirls representing the Swedish team and one of five OSU players overall in the event. Below is her second entry.
Hey everybody!
Here is a little update from today as well as a picture from Australia!
Today we were back on the West course for our second practice round on this course. The already challenging course gave us an even bigger challenge today when the wind blew really hard. It was about a "three-club wind", and we faced a much longer course today compared to when we played our first practice round.
Our Coach, Marcus, and our Captain, Walle, put up a little challenge for us all today. We (Anna, Caroline, and I) had to reach at least 65 points as a team to win. We could receive points in two ways; we got one point for hitting the fairway, and we could then get another one or two points around every green.
Our Coach put up some kind of shot for us around every green and if we hit the shot within a clublength we got two points and if we hit it within 8 feet we got one point.
After noticing that we were doing pretty well at the start, the short game shots he picked got tougher and tougher for us and we ended up not reaching the 65 points (which means no dessert tonight!)! Now we are up for a rematch on the East course tomorrow!
