LAS VEGAS ÂOklahoma State's women's golf team blistered Boulder Creek Golf Club on Wednesday during the final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown to finish in second place.
Competing in their final event of the fall season, the Cowgirls recorded the low round of the tournament with a 20-under 268 score during their final round to move from a tie for third into sole possession of second place. OSU finished with a 29-under par total of 835 at the par-72, 6,238-yard layout.
Pepperdine claimed the team title with a 54-hole total of 823, 41-under par. The Waves also produced the individual medalist in Lisa McCloskey, who fired a 67 during her final round to finish at 17-under 199.
At the end of the day, three Cowgirls earned top-10 finishes and all five players in the starting lineup broke par during the round. With their effort, they also shattered the school's 18-hole scoring mark by 12 shots, which was set two years ago at the same event.
Caroline Hedwall earned a top-five finish after firing a closing 65. The freshman opened with a bogey, but followed with four birdies to turn at 3-under 33. Hedwall carded four more birdies on her back nine to come in at 7-under par for the day and end the tournament at 11-under 205 and alone in fifth place.
Two Cowgirls were among the group of players tied for ninth place at 210. Freshman Caroline Masson carded a bogey-free round of 67 that included five birdies to finish 6-under for the event, while senior Pernilla Lindberg had a four-birdie day en route to a 69 to join the group at 210.
Senior Karin Kinnerud carded the best round of her career with a 67 that included five birdies against no bogeys. Kinnerud finished tied for 20th place at 3-under 213.
Senior Amanda Johnson posted her second consecutive 71 to finish tied for 45th place with her 219 total.
