Cowgirl Golf In Second Place At Stanford Intercollegiate

PALO ALTO, Calif. Oklahoma State's women's golf team fired a 6-under 278 during the first round of the Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday at the Stanford Golf Course to stand alone in second place.
UCLA finished the day with the lead after carding a 7-under 277 at the par-71, 6,092-yard layout. Southern California and Stanford are tied for third and one stroke behind the Cowgirls.
Freshman Caroline Masson posted the squad's low round of the day with a 6-under 65 and holds the individual lead. The Gladbeck, Germany native will carry a one-shot lead over USC's Lizette Salas into play tomorrow.
Masson was even par through seven holes before recording birdies on six of her next eight holes. She then closed with three consecutive pars to post the low round of her brief career.
Senior Pernilla Lindberg fired a 68 to come in tied for third place. Behind a string of three consecutive birdies, the Bollnäs, Sweden native went out in 3-under 32 before posting an even-par 36 on her back nine.
Freshman Caroline Hedwall also finished in red numbers, posting a 70. The Lodderopinge, Sweden native rebounded from a 3-over front nine with a 32 on her back nine to finish 1-under par and tied for 13th place. Hedwall's inward nine included three birdies and an eagle.
Senior Amanda Johnson carded a 4-over 75 to finish the day tied for 63rd place, while senior Karin Kinnerud is in 90th place after posting an 83.
The Cowgirls will begin their second round tomorrow at 10 a.m. (PST) and will be paired with UCLA and USC.
