Cowgirl Golfers Tied For Sixth Place At NCAA Preview

Oklahoma State's women's golf team opened play on Monday with a 4-over-par team score of 296 to end the day tied for sixth place at the Margaret Branch NCAA Preview at the UNM Championship Golf Course.
Duke grabbed the team lead with a 5-under 287 total, while UCLA was the only other team to find red figures, finishing at 1-under 291 on the par-73, 6,069-yard layout. The Cowgirls came in tied with Pepperdine and one shot behind Arizona State and Vanderbilt for fourth place.
The Waves' Taylore Karle fired a 67 to grab a one-shot lead over the field.
Junior Pernilla Lindberg paced OSU with a 5-under 68. The Bollnäs, Sweden native played a bogey-free front nine that included three birdies and closed with birdies on Nos. 15, 16 and 18 to get within one of the lead. Lindberg will begin Round Two tied with Dewi Claire Schreefel of Southern California.
Junior Karin Kinnerud found her way into the top 20 after carding an even-par 73. Norrköping, Sweden native parred her first 12 holes and made 16 pars overall to get to her total. Kinnerud will begin play Tuesday tied for 16th place.
Senior Tammy Clelland carded a 3-over 76 to finish 46th place, while sophomore Sarah Bradley opened with a 79 to come in tied for 70th.
Junior Amanda Johnson posted an 81 to finish tied for 82nd.
The Cowgirls will play the second of the event's three roundstomorrow morning at 8 a.m. (MST) and will be paired with Auburn and Arizona.
