An outstanding performance by junior quarterback Omar Haugabook, both through the air and on the ground, gave Troy all the offense it needed as the Trojans defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys 41-23 here Friday night at the Movie Gallery Stadium.

After a 40 minute delay due to heavy rains and lightning, Oklahoma State's nationally broadcast game at Troy began with a Keith Toston turnover on the first offensive play of the game. The Trojans turned the miscue into seven points just over a minute later on a five-yard pass from Haugabook to Kennard Burton and it was all downhill from there for the Pokes.

A long punt return put Troy in scoring position again, but sophomore Perrish Cox snagged an interception in the end zone, one of the few highlights for the Cowboy defense as it spent most the game on the field.

The offense, scored its first two touchdowns of the game after taking over the ball in short-field position. A fake punt attempt inside the Troy 30 failed during the third quarter led to a four yard scoring reception by Brandon Pettigrew. The junior tight end had two receptions for 26 yards on the short drive.

The second Cowboy TD came after Quinton Moore blocked a Troy punt attempt. Three plays later, senior Julius Crosslin scored on a one yard touchdown run. The Amarillo, Texas, native scored another TD in the fourth and moved up to 19th place on the all-time school scoring chart with 110 points.

The Troy defense was stout as well, limiting the Cowboys to just 241 yards through the first three quarters. The game was well over before the Pokes scored on an 11-play, 91-yard drive in the fourth.

Oklahoma State will open Big 12 Conference action next Saturday as the Cowboys host the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Boone Pickens Stadium on Fox Sports Net. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
