Cowgirl Golf Begins Fall Slate At Mason Rudolph Championship
September 13, 2007 | Cowgirl Golf
Oklahoma State's women's golf team will play the first of its five fall events this weekend at the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship in Franklin, Tenn.
The top nine teams in Golfweek's preseason poll will all be competing at the Vanderbilt Legends Course, a par-72, 6,217-yard layout. The tournament will consist of 18 holes over three days beginning with Friday's first round. The Cowgirls finished ninth in last year's event with Mallorie Underwood placing a team-best 16th overall.
In its third season under head coach Laura Matthews, OSU returns four starters from a year ago and carries a No. 6 preseason ranking into play. The Cowgirls will be looking to build upon a season that saw them win twice, including a victory at the NCAA West Regional.
Leading the way for the Cowgirls will be Pernilla Lindberg, who is coming off a season that saw her win twice and earn first-team All-America honors.
A pair of all-conference selections in junior Karin Kinnerud and sophomore Sarah Bradley will also be in the lineup this weekend. Coming off top-10 finishes in two of her final three tournaments last season, junior Amanda Johnson will start as well.
The lone newcomer in the starting five will be senior Tammy Clelland, who joins the program after beginning her collegiate career at Toledo.
Live scoring for the event will be available at www.golfstat.com.
