July 09, 2007 | Cowgirl Golf
Sophomores Amanda Johnson, Karin Kinnerud and Pernilla Lindberg all met the requirements necessary to be named to the All-Scholar team. Student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 or better grade point average and participate in at least 50 percent of their teams scheduled tournaments.
Johnson, a native of Jenks, Okla., who is majoring in accounting, participated in nine of 11 events for the Cowgirls this season. Her top performance was a seventh-place finish at the NCAA West Regional.
Kinnerud, a native of Norköpping, Sweden, has participated in every tournament of her two-year career for Oklahoma State. She finished eighth on three occasions this season: the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, the Texas A&M “Mo Morial” Invitational, and the Big 12 Championships. She is majoring in international business at OSU.
Lindberg, a native of Bollnäs, Sweden, who is also majoring in international business, participated in all 11 tournaments this season for the Cowgirls. The top golfer on the squad, she won the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and the NCAA West Regional. Lindberg was also an NGCA First-team All-American.
The All-Scholar award is the second such honor for both Kinnerud and Lindberg. The both were awarded the accolade in 2006 as freshmen.
Oklahoma State was one of just four schools that participated in the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships that had at least three players named to the All-Scholar team. The others were Tennessee, which had five golfers listed, and Stanford and Arizona State, which had three each.
