Cowgirls Finish Second at Big 12s
For the second-consecutive season, Oklahoma State finished runner-up to Texas A&M at the Big 12 Womens Golf Championships. Four different Cowgirls finished in the top-10 individually, garnering Big 12 All-Tournament honors. Underclassmen Pernilla Lindberg and Sarah Bradley tied for fourth place while Amanda Johnson and Karin Kinnerud tied for eighth place. Senior Mallorie Underwood finished 42nd individually. OSU had a four-stroke lead entering the final round of the tournament, but Texas A&M carded the best round of the tournament with a 296 and defeated the Cowgirls by five strokes. It marked the 10th-consecutive top-three finish at the conference tournament by OSU and the eighth time in 11 seasons that the Cowgirls have finished in the top two.
Cowgirls Garner Postseason Accolades
Oklahoma State had three golfers earn All-Big 12 honors this season. Sophomores Pernilla Lindberg and Karin Kinnerud, along with freshman Sarah Bradley, were all named to the all-conference team. It was the second such honor for both Lindberg and Kinnerud, as Lindberg was an All-Big 12 first team selection a year ago and Kinnerud was a second-team selection last season. Bradley was one of three freshman named to the 2007 All-Big 12 team. Prior to this season, only five freshman had been named to the All-Big 12 first team. Bradley is one of four Cowgirl freshmen to receive the honor. All three Cowgirl golfers, along with sophomore Amanda Johnson, were also members of the Big 12 Championships all-tournament team. In the past, the conference coaches voted on two separate five-person squads, a first and second team. This year, it was decided to vote on one 10-person team.
Four Cowgirls Named Academic All-Big 12
Oklahoma State had four golfers named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team, tying for the most by any school this season. With the addition of Pernilla Lindberg and Karin Kinnerud on this years squad, there have now been 13 Swedes that have worn the Cowgirl uniform. Several have been very successful at the collegiate and professional levels. Dahllof, Maria Bodén and Karin Sjödin have all garnered first-team All-America honors while at OSU. Charlotta Eliasson, Emma Zackrisson and Linda Wessberg have all been named as All-Americans as well.
