Cowboy Tennis Keeps Bedlam Win Streak Alive

With a, 5-2, win over No. 31 Oklahoma in Oklahoma City Tuesday, Oklahoma State's 12th-ranked men's tennis extended its win streak in the Bedlam series to 16.
The match, originally scheduled for April 10, had been delayed twice because of rain and it was no different Tuesday as weather in
For the second-straight dual, OSU found itself behind early after dropping the doubles point. Against Texas Tech Sunday, the Cowboys could not overcome the early disadvantage but it was a different story Tuesday as OSU won five of six singles matches to beat the Sooners.
It looked bleak early as the Sooners picked up a win at No. 3 singles to push their lead to 2-0. The Cowboys struck back with a win at No. 1 singles. The match featured two of the best freshmen in the country as 25th-ranked Oleksandr Nedovyesov defeated No. 60 Vaclav Kucera in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-4. The win was his 11th this season over a ranked foe.
Maybe the biggest keys to OSU's victory, was the play of 29th-ranked Ivan Puchkarov at No. 2 singles. The Central Region's champion dropped the first to 117th-ranked Andrei Daescu, 6-2, and was down, 5-3 in the second set. The junior was far from done though as made a spirited comeback to take the set and later the match.
The Pokes picked up their third point after senior Artie Burmistrau, playing in his final regular season match as a Cowboy, cruised to a, 6-2, 6-2, win over Ryan Thomas at No. 5 singles.
Dmytro Petrov clinched the Bedlam victory as he downed Rob McKenzie, 7-6 (5), 7-6, in a close match. The freshman remains tied with Nedovyesov for the team lead in wins.
Nathan Byrnes put the icing on the cake by defeating Federico Chavarria, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 6 singles.
O-State will next be in action Friday through Sunday as the second seed at the 2007 Big 12 Championship in
