Pernilla Lindberg Leads PING/ASU Invitational
March 30, 2007 | Cowgirl Golf
As a team, the Cowgirls are tied for second place with fifth-ranked Pepperdine, five strokes behind second-ranked and host school Arizona State.
Oklahoma State has three golfers tied for 21st place. Senior Mallorie Underwood, sophomore Amanda Johnson and freshman Sarah Bradley each recorded a two-over 74 and aided the Cowgirls to a two-over 290 first-round score. Sophomore Karin Kinnerud shot a 76 and is tied for 44th place.
Lindberg had two birdies in the first three holes before a double bogey on No. 4, a par-4, 371-yard hole brought her back to even. A birdie and a pair of bogeys over the next five holes left her at one-over at the turn. The Swedish native birdied No. 10 and shot par on Nos. 11, 12 and 13. On the 14th hole, a 488-yard, par-5, she reached the green in two and made her putt for eagle. With birdies on Nos. 16 and 17, she shot five-under-par on the back nine.
The tournament will continue on Saturday with another round of 18 holes and conclude on Sunday with a final round of 18.
