Cowboy Basketball Opens 2007-08 Season
October 14, 2007 | Cowboy Basketball
Five players return from last year's squad, including three starters. Point guard Byron Eaton has lost more than 20 pounds during the off-season and the junior is looking to lead the Cowboys. Also back on the court are junior guard Terrel Harris and senior forward Marcus Dove.
“Marcus has been reinstated to the team,” Sutton said. “He has fulfilled all the requirements we put before him. He is very remorseful about letting his family, his teammates and the OSU fans down, and has certainly learned from his mistake. We are looking forward to him having a successful senior season.”
Sophomore guard Obi Muonelo, who suffered a leg injury before Big 12 Conference play began a year ago, is back to full strength, and senior forward Tyler Hatch will be back to fight for playing time.
Seven newcomers are among the 2007-08 roster. Junior college transfers Anthony Brown and Brad Garrett will both have an opportunity to crack the starting lineup. Brown is a junior originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., who transferred from Carl Albert State College, while Garrett is a transfer from the College of Southern Idaho who is classified as a sophomore.
Five freshman are experiencing their first few days of collegiate practice. Martavius Adams, a 6-8 forward from Georgia, and Ibrahima Thomas, a 6-11 forward originally from Senegal, have been working out in the post. Nick Sidorakis, a 6-4 guard from Jenks, Okla., Marshall Moses, a 6-6 wing from South Carolina, and James Anderson, a McDonald's All-American from Arkansas, have been working out on the perimeter.
Oklahoma State fans will have their first chance to see the squad in person on Friday, Oct. 19, when OSU hosts Homecoming & Hoops beginning at 9:30 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
