Cowgirl Golfers extend lead at Big 12 Championships

OSU has three golfers in the top-10 individually, led by freshman Pernilla Lindberg. The Swedish native carded a three-under 69 and moved within five strokes of individual leader Ashley Knoll of Texas A&M. Cowgirl junior Candie Herrera remains in a tie for fifth place after finishing the second round with an even-par 72.
Lindberg had a span of nine holes where she was six under par, including an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole, where she holed out from approximately 75 yards. Herrera also recorded an eagle on the par-4 hole No. 4, knocking it in from about 130 yards.
Missouri had the best team score of the day with a one-under 287, moving within eight shots of the Cowgirls. Nebraska is in fourth place with a 604, and Kansas State rounds out the top-five teams with a 609.
Cowgirl senior Jennifer Karr is tied for 10th individually at 149, four strokes behind Lindberg. Junior Mallorie Underwood is tied for 16th with a 152, while freshman Karin Kinnerud rounds out the OSU golfers with a 153 and is tied for 19th.
Oklahoma State has won four of the last five Big 12 Championships and five overall in nine years of the league. The tournament will conclude on Wednesday with a final round of 18 holes.
