Senior season (Fall 2004)
Annie finished the fall semester of her senior season with a 72.58 strokes per round average, by far her best semester as a Cowgirl. She finished fourth at the Dick McGuire Invitational, fifth at the NCAA Fall Preview, and second at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational. Annie tied for the team lead with two eagles during the fall, matching Karin Sjödin. For her career, Annie has competed in 40 tournaments, and has finished in the top 20 in more than half of them. Her 75.40 career average ranks as the third-best by a Cowgirl in school history behind Sjödin and Maria Bodén.
Junior season (2003-04)
Annie averaged 74.70 strokes per round her junior season, the fifth-best single season in school history. Annie competed in all five tournaments during the fall, including the Hooter's Match Play Tournament, where she finished with a 3-0-1 record. Annie finished third at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate, leading the Cowgirls to a second-place finish. She broke into the 60s for the first time in her collegiate career during the fall, carding a 69 twice, first during the second round of the Dick McGuire Invitational and equalling it during the final round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate. Annie finished 13th at the Dick McGuire Invitational. She led the team with 31 birdies during the fall, and also had an eagle. During the spring semester, Annie won her first collegiate tournament, garnering medalist honors at the Big 12 Championship, the 20th individual league title by a Cowgirl. Annie also earned all-tournament team honors at the Big 12 Championships. Prior to the Big 12 Tournament, Annie was named second-team All-Big 12 by the league coaches. She finished 16th at the NCAA Championships, carding a two-under 70 during the final round.
Sophomore season (2002-03)
Annie had the second-best finish by a Cowgirl last season at the NCAA Championships, finishing 19th individually. She earned honorable mention All-America honors by the National Golf Coaches' Association. Annie was named first-team All-Big 12 as well as second-team Academic All-Big 12. Her seventh-place finish at the Big 12 Championships also earned her all-tournament status. Annie finished the season with the third-best stroke average in the Big 12, and was ranked 26th nationally. She finished with six top-10 finishes on the year. Annie made phenomenal improvements during the summer of 2002, and finished the fall season as the top golfer for the Cowgirls. She had a 73.33 strokes per round average, and finished in the top 10 in three of the four tournaments. Annie had five sub-par rounds during the fall, including a collegiate-best 70 on three occasions. She had a three-round total of 212 at the TOPY Cup in Japan, finishing third individually at four-under-par.
Freshman season (2001-02)
Annie finished her freshman season with a 77.41 strokes per round average, and finished as high as eight at the Auburn Tiger/Derby Invitational. Her top finish during the spring was a 13th-place outing at the Big 12 Championships, where she shot a 230. Annie had three top-20 finishes in her first year as a Cowgirl. Annie competed in all four tournaments for Oklahoma State in the fall, and her best finish was an eighth-place outing at the Auburn Derby. She had a three-round total of 223 at that event. Her low round was a 73 at the Big 12 Invitational during the second round. She finished 14th at that event at Karsten Creek.
Amateur
This past summer, Annie competed for the United States in the Curtis Cup, one of eight golfers to play for the U.S. She finished with a 3-1 record during the tournament, pacing the U.S. squad to victory. Annie competed in the U.S. Women's Open as an amateur during the summer of 2003. She won the 2002 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links championship in Sunriver, Ore., qualifying her for the U.S. Women's Amateur. She defeated UNLV's Hwanhee Lee, 6 and 5, for the title. Annie became the first woman from the state of Utah to win a USGA Championship. She won the Utah State Amateur with a one-stroke win over Carrie Summerhays. Annie finished 21st during stroke-play qualifying at the 102nd U.S. Women's Amateur, but lost in the first round of match play, falling to South Carolina's Kristy McPherson, 1 up. She finished sixth at the North American Junior Championships in Dallas in 1999, as well as the Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines in San Diego, shooting 74-74-77-77 on the par-74 course. Annie was one of the youngest ever to win the Women's City Parks Open at Mountain Dell during the summer of 2000 with rounds of 66 and 72. This past summer, Annie made the Round of 16 at both the 2003 U.S. Women's Amateur and the 2003 U.S. Women's Public Links Championship.
High School
Annie lettered four years for coach Scott Telford at Lone Peak High School. She was named three-time All-State, and her team won the state championship in 1999. She played point guard for the basketball team for three years and was named to the second-team All-State squad by the Salt Lake Tribune after leading her team to the Class 4A state championship game.
Personal
Born Aug. 17, 1982, Annie is the daughter of Jeff and Kay Thurman. She married Caleb Young this past winter. Annie has a brother, Adam, and a sister, Megan. Both her father and brother played collegiate golf. Annie is majoring in marketing at Oklahoma State.
