Cowgirl Golfers Tied For Third At Dick McGuire Invitational

Host school New Mexico is in second place, five strokes behind the Bulldogs and one stroke ahead of the Cowgirls. BYU rounds out the top-five teams, recording a 296 during the first round.
Georgia's Kelly Froelich shot a five-under 68, and leads the individual race by one stroke over BYU's Natalie Newren. Allison Martin of Georgia finished with a three-under 70. Former Cowgirl Ashley Knoll, now at Texas A&M, is tied with Sjödin in fourth place, along with Baylor's Meredith Jones.
Cowgirl senior Annie Thurman and sophomore Candy Herrera each shot a 73 and are tied for 12th place individually. Sophomore Mallorie Underwood, who was even through 13 holes, finished with a two-over 75. Sophomore Ali Griffin carded an 80 and is tied for 75th place.
The tournament will continue with another round of 18 holes on Tuesday, and conclude on Wednesday with a final round of 18.
