Ashley was a two-time American Junior Golf Association/Polo Golf Junior All-American in 2001 (honorable mention) and 2002 (second team). She was rated as the sixth-best overall junior golfer in the world according to the Golfweek/Titleist Junior Rankings this past year, and was ranked as high as fourth in May of this year. This past summer, she won the Thunderbird International Junior in Scottsdale, Ariz., by two strokes, carding a three-under-par 213. She also took medalist honors at the Justin Leonard/Deloitte & Touche Junior Team Championship in early June, and picked up her third title of 2003 by claiming the OSSO Junior at Oak Tree in Edmond, Okla. She carded an even-par 70 during the final round of that tournament, and won with a seven-over-par 217, two strokes better than second place. The summer prior to her senior year, Ashley won the AJGA Chicago Junior in Bolingbrook, Ill., and finished third at the OSSO at Oak Tree that same summer.
High School
Ashley was by far the best individual player on possibly the top high school team in the country. She was the 2003 Class 5A Champion in the State of Texas, her second state championship after winning the same tournament her freshman season in 2000. Ashley won the 2003 state title with a two-day score of 138, four strokes better than second place. She also led her team to the team state title in 2001, 2002 and 2003. In fact, the Highlanders won the 2003 state championship by 47 strokes over their nearest competition. Ashley won the prestigious Lauren Johnson Memorial Tournament, carding a 66 during the second round and finishing two strokes ahead of fellow Cowgirl Mallory Underwood.
Personal
Born May 2, 1985, in Winston-Salem, N.C., Ashley is the daughter of Don and Brenda Knoll. She has an older brother, Ryan. Ashley has aspirations of one day playing on the LPGA Tour. Sne enjoys listening to music, exercising and spending free time with her friends.
