Tomas Bohunicky was the only Cowboy to defeat his opponent. Bohunicky handled Rice's Tony Haerle 6-1, 6-1.
OSU's top singles player, 32nd ranked Mark Van Elden, retired in the first set trailing 21st ranked William Barker of Rice 2-1.
Boris Kuharic was defeated by 18th ranked Richard Barker by a score of 6-3, 6-2, and Juan Felip Diaz lost to Jason Moc 6-3, 6-4.
