Cowgirl golfers finish second at Tar Heel Invitational

Four Cowgirls finished in the top 15, including top-10 finishes by senior Christi Cano and sophomore Annie Thurman. Cano ended the tournament with a four-over-par 220, good enough for sixth place. Thurman was five over par and finished ninth.
Senior Linda Wessberg and freshman Karin Sjödin, the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for September, both finished tied for 15th with a 222. Sophomore Lisa Jean, who shot a 69 during the second round, finished in 36th place with a 228.
The Cowgirls outdistanced eighth-ranked Ohio State by 10 strokes, and finished ahead of six teams ranked in the top 25. Oklahoma State will return to action on Friday, Nov. 1, in the Auburn Tiger/Derby Invitational in Auburn, Ala.
