Linda's Career
In her collegiate career at Oklahoma State, Linda has followed closely in the footsteps of her fellow countrywoman Maria Bodén. The Swedish duor rank 1-2 in the all-time OSU career stroke average, with Bodén finishing her career at 74.55 strokes per round and Wessberg close behind at 75.61 strokes per round. Linda has competed in 37 tournaments in her career, with a victory in the Roadrunner Invitational her freshman year. She has 24 top-20 finishes, including 16 tournaments in the top 10 and seven in the top five. Linda has shot 11 sub-par rounds in her career, including five rounds in the 60s and a career-best 68.
Freshman Season (1999-2000)
Fall 1999
Linda improved with each round she played during her first season with the Cowgirls. She shot an 85 in her first collegiate round, and finished 236 for the tournament. By her fourth tournament, she shot a 69 for a single-round best, and shot 216 for the tournament to win the individual title at the Roadrunner Invitational. She was third on the team, averaging 75.33 strokes per round.
Spring 2000
Linda earned Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year honors during her first season in a Cowgirl uniform. She finished with the second-lowest overall average on the team with a 76.42 strokes-per-round average. Linda was also named first-team All-Big 12, joining Maria Bodén on that squad. Linda's highest finish during the spring was a seventh-place finish at the Utah-Dixie Classic, where she shot a three-round total of 222.
Sophomore Season (2000-01)
Fall 2000
Linda had two sub-par rounds during the fall, with a 70 at the Price's Give 'em Five Intercollegiate and a 71 at the Shootout at the Legends. Her best finish of the fall was an eighth-place outing at the Give 'em Five Intercollegiate. She had a 75.42 strokes per round average, a full stroke lower than her freshman season average.
Spring 2001
Linda had five top-10 finishes during the spring season, including a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional, her top placing. She had back-to-back rounds of 69, carding the three-under-par score in the final round of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational and the first round of the Bryan National Collegiate. She finished with six subpar rounds during the course of the year. Linda had a 75.30 strokes-per-round average. She was named first-team All-Big 12 along with teammate Maria Bodén.
Junior Season (2001-02)
Fall 2001
Linda had three top-five finishes and another top-10 finish in four tournaments during the fall. She had a career-best 74.00 strokes-per-round average, leading the team. Linda finished fourth at the NCAA Fall Preview, and had fifth-place finishes at both the Big 12 Invitational and the Auburn Derby. Linda was named second-team All-Big 12 as well as earning All-Tournament team honors at the Big 12 Championships for finishing in the top 10.
Spring 2002
During the spring of her junior season, Linda had a 76.29 strokes-per-round average, and finished as high as seventh at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. She shot a collegiate-low 68 during the final round of the Wildcat Invitational, and had another sub-par round, a 71, during the final round of the NCAA Championships. Linda earned first-team All-Big 12 honors and was named to the first team of the Academic All-Big 12 squad.
Senior Season (2002-03)
Fall 2002
Through four tournaments in the fall, Linda had a 74.25 strokes-per-round average, and finished as high as fourth at the TOPY Cup. At that tournament, she shot a 69 during the final round, and finished with a one-under-par 215. She also shot a one-under 71 during the first round fo teh Tar Heel Invitational. Linda finished first on the squad at the Auburn Tiger/Derby Invitational with a 224.
Non-collegiate
On the world stage, Linda won the Swedish Team Championship during the summer of 2002. She won the 2001 European Team Championship and the Swedish National Junior Championship, shooting a 68 during one round. As a member of the Swedish National team since 1997, Linda has participated in several tournaments. She won the Canon Junior Masters finals of Scandinavia, and went on to finish eighth at the European finals of the same tournament. She won the Saab International Juniors in Belgium in 1999, and finished second at the Swedish Juniors Championships. While on the Swedish National Teen tour, Linda finished second twice and fifth in the finals. She also represented the Swedish National team at the 1998 Girls' British Open, the Mercedes Benz Women's Collegiate Championships at the University of Tennessee in 1998, and the College Tournament at Greensboro, North Carolina in 1999. She also played in the 1999 Chrysler Open, part of the European Tour.
Personal
Born June 13, 1980, Linda is the daughter of Kenneth and Elisabeth Wessberg. She has a older brother, Martin. Linda has been a horse rider for 10 years, and also participated in basketball and diving. She enjoys watching soccer (her father and brother both played in the Swedish National League) and ice hockey, shopping, being with friends and watching movies. Her father was also on the under-21 National Team. Linda is majoring in general business with a minor in economics at Oklahoma State.
