Christi's Career
In her collegiate career at Oklahoma State, Christi has attained a 76.20 strokes-per-round average, the third-best in school history. She has played 121 rounds for the Cowgirls, which ties with Alicia Ogrin and teammate Linda Wessberg for the 11th-most in school history. Christi has competed in 37 tournaments, and had 20 top-20 finishes, including 11 finishes in the top 10 and five of those in the top five. She has shot 11 sub-par rounds, including two rounds in the 60s, with her best round a 69 on two occasions.
Freshman Season (1999-2000)
Fall 1999
Christi competed in all four tournaments during the fall season, and finished with the second-best strokes-per-round average on the team at 75.00. She finished second at the Shootout at the Legends, her top performance, and shot back-to-back one-under-par 71s at that tournament to finish with a 217. She also had two other top-20 finishes, 15th at the Big 12 Preview and 13th at the Roadrunner Invitational.
Spring 2000
Christi's top finish during the spring was a 14th-place outing at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, as she finished second on the team with a 229 three-round total. She had a 78.48 strokes-per-round average, and had a low round of 73 at the Wahine Invitational.
Sophomore Season (2000-01)
Fall 2000
Christi finished seventh at the Big 12 Fall Preview, her highest finish of the fall. She finished second on the team in that tournament. She had a 78.25 strokes-per-round average, and had a low of 73 at the Fall Preview.
Spring 2001
Christi's top finish during the spring season was a second-place finish at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. She carded two one-under-par 71s in the tournament. She also shot a 71 during the second round of the NCAA Central Regional. Christi finished 25th at the NCAA Championships with a four-round total of 298. Her 25th-place finish was the second-best on the team, six strokes behind Maria Bodén, who finished 10th individually. Christi was named honorable mention Academic All-Big 12 for her work in the classroom.
Junior Season (2001-02)
Fall 2001
Christi had a 75.18 strokes-per-round average through four tournaments in the fall. She finished second at the Big 12 Invitational at Karsten Creek in Stillwater with a three-round total of 223. She shot a one-under-par 71 during the second round, keeping her in the hunt for the individual title. She finished 11th at the Dick McGuire Invitational, and had a one-under-par 72 during the middle round.
Spring 2002
Christi had a 75.11 strokes-per-round average during the spring, and finished her junior year with a 75.13 average overall. She finished second at the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., where she shot a season-low 69 during the final round. Christi had five top-10 finishes overall, including a sixth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships. At the NCAA Championships, Christi led the team with a three-round total of 295, including a two-under-par 70 during the third round. She finished 27th individually. She was one of three Cowgirls named first-team All-Big 12, earned Big 12 All-Tournament honors, and garnered honorable-mention All-America honors as well.
Summer 2002
Christi was one of four women's golfers named to the 2002 USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championships this past summer. The teams competed at The Glen Club in Glenview, Ill., July 17-19, and the U.S. won, 31-29. Christi scored a 74 and teamed with Kristy McPherson in the first round to score two points for the United State. She then halved the second round with Kyoko Furuya by shooting a 74 to score another point. Christi lost to Furuya during the final round with a 79.
Senior Season (2002-03)
Fall 2002
Christi finished in the top 11 at three of the four tournaments the Cowgirls' competed in during the fall. Her best finish was a sixth-place outing at the Tar Heel Invitational, where she shot a 220, matching her season best. She finished 11th at the TOPY Cup in Japan, carded a three-under-par 69 during the second round. Christi ended the fall season with a 74.50 strokes-per-round average.
Non-collegiate
Christi was a four-year letterwinner for coach Robert Sanchez at Edison High School, and was captain all four years. She was named all-district and all-region four times, and all-state three times. She won the 1998 Texas Class 5A State Championship, and the 1999 Class 4A State title. Christi was named the 1999 Player of the Year for the University Interscolastic League, and was the South Texas PGA Junior Girls Player of the Year. As an amateur, Christi was the 1999 Chrysler AJGA Champion, the San Antonio Women's City Amateur Champion, finished second at the 1999 Ashworth AJGA in Oklahoma, and was a member of the AJGA West Cannon Cup in 1999. Her lowest amateur round was a 64.
Personal
Born Dec. 31, 1981, Christi is the daughter of John and Ramona Cano. She enjoys reading, talking on the phone and traveling to different places. Christi has three adult brothers, John, Frank and Andrew. Two of her brothers passed the Player Ability Test, and one is an assistant pro at Quarry Golf Club. Christi is majoring in marketing at Oklahoma State.
