Austin, Texas - Oklahoma State's fourth-ranked women's golf team led from start to finish and won its first tournament of the spring and second overall as the Cowgirls won the 30th annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational here Tuesday afternoon by six strokes over host school Texas.
Individually, all five Cowgirls finished in the top eight. Freshman Karin Sj?din carded an even-par 72 on the final day and finished fifth with a three-round total of 226. Sophomore Annie Thurman finished sixth with a 227, while senior Christi Cano finished with a 228, good for seventh place.
Sophomore Jenny Karr, in second place after two rounds, faltered on Tuesday and finished tied for eighth with a 230. Senio Linda Wessberg, who shot an 81 on day one, rebounded with scores of 74 and 75 during the final two days and tied Karr for eighth place.
Texas' Jessica Reese won the individual title with a four-under-par 212, 12 strokes better than Devan Andersen, also of Texas, and Ohio State's Kristen White in second place.
OSU was the only team to finish under 900 with a three-day total of 896. Texas was second at 902, while Ohio State finished third with a three-day total of 931. Oklahoma finished fourth with a 936, and Texas A&M rounded out the top-five teams with a 958.
Oklahoma State will return to action on Friday, April 4, as the Cowgirls compete in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga.
