Cowgirl Basketball Falls to Nebraska, 73-59

STILLWATER, Okla. - Nebraska earned its first conference win under the direction of head coach Connie Yori on Saturday afternoon, defeating Oklahoma State, 73-59, in front of 2,616 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Win the win, the Huskers improved to 8-10 overall and 1-6 in Big 12 play, while the Cowgirls fell to 5-13 and 1-6.
Nebraska held a 34-30 lead at the half before the Cowgirls took their lone lead of the second stanza at the 11-minute mark on a bucket Nicole Campbell that put OSU in front 45-44. An 8-0 Husker run followed and the lead grew to as many as 17 before a pair of free throws by Cowgirl senior Chantoya Hawkins provided the final margin.
Hawkins finished with a season-high 18 points, while junior Trisha Skibbe recorded her fourth double-double of the season, tallying 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Nebraska was led offensively by guard Margaret Richards' 25 points and forward Alexa Johnson's 23 points. Richards nailed four of her six three-pointer attempts, while Johnson tied for the team's top spot with eight rebounds.
OSU will return to action on Wednesday night when it travels to Ames, Iowa, to take on the Iowa State Cyclones at 7 p.m.
