Cowgirl Golfers Finish Second To Arizona At Fall Preview

West Lafayette, Ind. - Oklahoma State lost a three-stroke lead, falling to Arizona by three strokes during final round of the NCAA Fall Preview here Tuesday afternoon at the Kampen Golf Course. OSU shot a three-day total of 892, three strokes behind the Wildcats' 889 and nine strokes ahead of Vanderbilt.
Arizona's Miriam Kraschinski won the individual title with a three-round 216. Cowgirl freshman Karin Sj?din shot a final-round 75 and finished in a five-way tie for fifth place. Senior Christi Cano and sophomore Annie Thurman each carded a one-over-par 73 during the final round and tied for 10th place. Senior Linda Wessberg and sophomore Jenny Karr each recorded a 77 during the final day, finishing 35th and 54th, respectively.
The Cowgirls lead was as large as six after nine holes on Tuesday. However, by the 15th hole, OSU's lead was cut to one, and a bogey and a double-bogey on 16 put the Cowgirls back one stroke. Oklahoma State ended up losing nine strokes on the final three holes.
Oklahoma State will return to action on Oct. 4, as the Cowgirls travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., to compete in the Tar Heel Invitational.
