Cowgirl Golfers Lead After First Round Of NCAA Preview

West Lafayette, Ind. - Oklahoma State freshman Karin Sj?din shot a four-under-par 68, her third score in the 60s in four collegiate rounds, as the Cowgirls took the lead after the first round of the NCAA Fall Preview here Sunday. Sj?din sits atop the individual leaderboard, two strokes ahead of a trio of golfers, including Texas' Janice Olivencia.
As a team, OSU leads the Commodores by two strokes, shooting an even-par 288. Texas is in third, five strokes back at 293. Duke is in fourth place at 297, and Ohio State rounds out the top-five teams with a 298.
Cowgirl seniors Christi Cano and Linda Wessberg are tied for eighth place with four other golfers after shooting even-par 72. Sophomore Annie Thurman shot a four-over 76 and is tied for 37th place. Fellow sophomore Jenny Karr shot an 80 and is tied for 67th place.
The tournament will continue on Monday with another round of 18 holes, and will conclude on Tuesday with a final round of 18.
