No. 13 Men's Basketball Takes Down Texas, 85-80

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Eddie Sutton's 700th victory came where Oklahoma State hadn't won in a while.
The 13th-ranked Cowboys beat Texas 85-80 on Wednesday night, their first win in Austin since December 1974. But it was the career milestone that had several players carrying Sutton off the court when the game ended.
"This was huge for us," Oklahoma State forward Fredrik Jonzen said. "Not just for Coach Sutton, but for the whole team. It's a lot more fun to get that win down here, then to go home and beat Baylor on Saturday."
Sutton, the 14th Division I coach to reach the 700-win mark, is 700-275 in his 32 seasons as a head coach at Creighton, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma State.
"He deserves it, it's his 700th win," Texas guard T.J. Ford said. "Not many coaches get that many wins at a level like this."
Sutton tried to downplay his achievement at first.
"It means I've been coaching a long time," he said. "We've had a tough time beating the Longhorns. It was a special game and one I'll always remember."
Texas coach Rick Barnes had nothing but praise for Sutton.
"He's a Hall of Famer, there's no question," Barnes said. "You have to admire what he's done and how he's done it."
Victor Williams had 20 points and seven assists to lead Oklahoma State (21-6, 8-5), which moved into a tie for third place in the Big 12 with Texas (17-9, 8-5), which has lost four of its last five conference games.
Texas cut what had been a 13-point Oklahoma State lead to 57-55 on a three-point play by Brandon Mouton with 8:14 to play.
Fredie Williams' 3-pointer had the Longhorns within 63-60, but a jumper by Jonzen started an 8-3 run that gave the Cowboys a 71-63 lead with 1:38 left.
Sydmill Harris and Chris Ogden each hit two 3-pointers and Ford added another for Texas, but Victor Williams was 9-of-12 from the free throw line down the stretch for Oklahoma State.
Mouton had 18 points to lead Texas.
The Cowboys outrebounded Texas 47-27, and outshot the Longhorns 58 percent (30-of-52) to 40 percent (27-of-68).
Oklahoma State led 43-32 at halftime, the Cowboys' second-highest first-half scoring output of the season. They shot 61.3 percent (19-of-31) and outrebounded Texas 23-9 in the opening 20 minutes.
Sutton is one of only three coaches to take four schools to the NCAA tournament and he is one of 11 coaches to take two schools to the Final Four. He took Arkansas there in 1978 and Oklahoma State in 1995.
