Cowgirl Basketball Falls to Oral Roberts in Season Opener

TULSA, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team suffered a 67-47 loss to Oral Roberts in its season opener on Friday night at the Bertha Teague Classic before 2,830 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Despite holding the Golden Eagles to 29 percent shooting from the floor, the Cowgirls were outrebounded 63-37, including a 30-9 deficit on the offensive glass, in their first regular season game under new head coach Julie Goodenough.
Freshman Lori Allen was impressive in her OSU debut, finishing the contest with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting and seven rebounds.
Kristin Atkinson came off the bench for ORU to pour in a game-high 20 points, including six three-point baskets, while April Garcia finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
ORU held the Cowgirls to 34 percent from the floor, including a 15-point first half that saw OSU shoot 21 percent from the field.
The Cowgirls will close out play in the event tomorrow at 8 p.m. with a contest against host-school Tulsa.
