Cowgirl Golf Inks Three To National Letters Of Intent

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl golf team has signed three golfers to National Letters of Intent, it was announced today by Coach Amy Weeks. The high school seniors will join the OSU squad in 2003-04.
"This class ranks right at the top of any class we've had here at Oklahoma State," said OSU Coach Amy Weeks, entering her third year at the helm of the Cowgirl program. "They are all three fantastic players, wonderful people and great students. They're all very proud to become a part of our team, and carrying on the tradition at OSU, as well as our recent success."
Ashley Knoll is a senior at The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas. She was the Class 5A State Invidividual Champion as a freshman and was the runnerup as a sophomore. Knoll led her team to back-to-back Class 5A State Championships in 2001 and '02.
On the national level, Knoll was a member of the first-ever Junior Solheim Cup in 2002, which the American team won, 17-7. Her individual record was 2-1. As a member of the West team at the 2002 Cannon Cup, which the West team won, Knoll's record was 3-0-1.
Knoll was named a 2002 second-team Polo Golf All-American, and finished the 2002 season ranked 18th in the Golfweek/Titleist Junior National Rankings. She has two American Junior Golf Association titles, the 2001 Taylor-Made Invitational and the 2002 Golfweek Invitational. She also made it to the round of 16 at the 2002 USGA Junior Girls Championship.
Mallory Underwood is a senior at Montgomery High School in Montgomery, Texas. She finished fourth individually at the 2001 Class 4A State Championships, leading her team to back-to-back team titles in 2001 and 2002.
Underwood reached the round of 32 at the USGA Girls Amateur, and also qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. She won individual titles at the 2002 Katy Invitational and the 2002 Kingwood Invitational. On the national level, Underwood finished second at both the Texas-Oklahoma Invitational and the AJGA Justion Leonard Invitational.
Ali Griffin is a senior at Edmond North High School in Edmond, Okla. She plays on the six-time defending Class 6A State Champion team and finished seventh at state last year after finishing second at regionals.
Griffin moved to Edmond North prior to her junior year. At Guthrie High School, she finished 10th at state in Class 5A her freshman year and fourth at state her sophomore season. As an amateur, her top finish was a seventh-place outing at the Abilene News Reporter Junior, where she finished three strokes behind the individual medalist.
"I'm really excited to sign with Oklahoma State," said Griffin. "The girls there are great. This will be very challenging, but I'm looking forward to it, and it will make me the best golfer I can be."
