Cowgirl Golf Finishes Fifth At NCAA Championships

Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. -Oklahoma State's 10th-ranked Cowgirl Golf team finished tied for fifth at the NCAA Championships here Friday afternoon, cardind a 302 on the final day and tying UCLA for fifth place. Georgia won the team title with a 1176 score, followed by Duke with a 1179 and Texas with a 1191. Auburn finished with a 1193, while OSU and UCLA finished one stroke back at 1194.
Cowgirl senior Maria Boden finished her collegiate career with a 292, tying for the lowest 72-hole total ever in OSU history. Robin Hood, a retired LPGA player, set the low total at the 1987 NCAA Championships, where she finished fifth.
Cowgirl sophomore Christi Cano shot a two-over-par 74 and finished with a 298, the second-best tournament for OSU. Sophomore Linda Wessberg finished with a 302, while junior Emma Zackrisson carded a 304 for the four-day tournament.
With sophomore Linda Wessberg hampered by the heat, the Cowgirls' No. 5 player Julie Jacques stepped up to the challenge, carding a 77, her best round of the tournament. That score was 10 strokes better than her first day.
