HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- Oklahoma State's 10th-ranked Cowgirl golf team continues to lead the NCAA Championships following Wednesday's round here at the El Campeon Course on the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort.
However, OSU has company at the top as top-ranked Duke has joined the Cowgirls at the top. Both schools have a 592 score after two rounds and will be joined by third-place Georgia on the teebox Thursday morning.
Maria Boden is tied for fifth place following a 74 during today's round. The Cowgirl senior had four bogeys and no birdies before her final two holes, when she birdied both. On eight, she hit a 20-foot putt after reaching the green in regulation, and on the ninth hole, she hit a 25-foot putt from just off the green.
OSU and Duke lead sixth-ranked Georgia by one stroke, and maintain a two-stroke lead over third-ranked Auburn and 25th-ranked UCLA.
Cowgirl junior Emma Zackrisson is tied for 34th after she shot a two-over 74, including back-to-back birdies on No. 16 and 17. Sophomore Christi Cano shot a 75 with four birdies and four bogeys, remaining in 23rd place.
Fellow sophomore Linda Wessberg shot a 76, tying her for 23rd place as well as she pared 14 holes and bogeyed four. Junior Julie Jacques improved on Tuesday's score by two strokes and is sitting at 172 after two rounds.
The tournament will continue with a round of 18 holes on Thursday, and conclude on Friday with a final round of 18. The Cowgirls will tee off starting at 7:30 a.m. EST on Thursday.
