Cowgirls Fall To No. 18 Texas, 73-69, In Overtime

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Jessica Bates scored a game-high 22 points, 18th-ranked Texas outscored the Cowgirls, 10-6, in overtime as the Longhorns defeated OSU, 73-69, here Saturday night before 1,776 fans in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Texas began the game ahead, 7-0, before OSU finally scored on a Trisha Skibbe jumper at the 15:48 mark. The Cowgirls tied the game at 10 with 11:24 remaining in the first period, and took their biggest lead of the half at 35-28 and took that score into the lockerroom.
OSU led the entire second half until the 4:43 mark, when two free throws by UT's Tracy Cook tied teh game at 53-53. The Cowgirls expanded their lead back to five with 1:21 to go, but Kaira White scored the final five points, two free throws and a trey with 29 seconds remaining tied the score and sent the game into OT.
Oklahoma State never trailed from the 1:48 mark of the first half until 1:11 into the overtime period. There were three ties in the extra period before UT scored the final four points of the game.
Cowgirl Kara Faulk scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for her second-consecutive double-double and fifth of the season. Sophomore Chantoya Hawkins scored 11 points, including 7-of-7 from the line, pulled down eight boards and dished out five assists. She also had four steals. Jessica Spinner chipped in 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.
Texas' Stacy Stephens scored a team-high 15 points and also grabbed nine rebounds. White and Tracy Cook each scored 14, pacing the Longhorns.
Oklahoma State (13-11 overall, 5-8 Big 12) will travel to Columbia, Mo., on Wednesday, Feb. 21, to face the Missouri Tigers. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Texas (19-8, 7-6) will play at Iowa State on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
